the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership by John C Maxwell some of you might know I spent 10 years in corporate invested 10 years of my life in corporate learning from great inventors about a leadership about business leadership personal leadership how to influence and how to inspire others to take action and you know despite investing 10 years of my life in there it really didn't start to sink in and really didn't start to make sense after I became and until after I became an entrepreneur in 2009 when I left corporate and started my IT business in which I grew up 250 clients supporting the Toronto Canada area I had to develop my own style but it had to be built on foundations and I had to further invest in the development of others to create leaders because one of the things I find is that a lot of times companies businesses etc they have leaders in there who self imposed himself as leaders or give themselves leadership titles but when you start to realize the different elements that make up leaders and great leaders you'll recognize that leaders one of the most important elements of them is that they inspire and they grow other leaders ok leaders grow other leaders after realizing this truth I went in and started to do that with my IT business I would not bring on contractors and call them employees but I'd bring on contractors and I would work with them so they could build their own IT businesses this allowed me when I sold my business to very very interestingly configure different kinds of options to transition my clients because I had built a team of leaders and these leaders looked up to me and I looked up to them also because they had within them elements that were strengths that were my weaknesses and I had within myself elements that were my strengths and they were their weaknesses and together we created very beautiful dynamic when I got out of my IT business and started to move into my next phase essentially management consulting and creating training products with other companies including my own I recognized that still within me is this massive desire to create leaders and when I read this book here I recognize that a lot of the principles all of them actually resonated very deeply to not only what I learned when I was a corporate but my experience in corporate and my experience in entrepreneurship so I totally approve of these 21 laws and I feel that this is a great book to discuss the elements contained within the book and then offer you my insights in perspective based on my experience because my goal here is to develop you to become a leader not for egotistical reasons but for you to lead others I want this to continue I want the leadership to expand and grow through the content that we're sharing here why because I believe that the future belongs to entrepreneurs or those that have a deep level of understanding and appreciation of entrepreneurship and while most entrepreneurs aren't good leaders it's a really powerful ones it's the ones that create massive success for themselves and their teams and other clients and their market that have a unique combination of the various entrepreneurial skills as well as the deep understanding and the ability to integrate and implement leadership skills so here's how to get the most out of this book number one recognize that laws can be learned some are easier to understand and apply than others but every one of these laws can be acquired leadership is something that you learn through experience you're not going to learn it by reading this book or watching this video you will understand the theory behind it but real leadership comes through taking action through applying it and making a commitment to yourself that from this day forth you are going to met it integrate reflect and apply these 21 laws and not just your business or your career but in every area of your life because how you do one thing is how you do everything and we want these laws to be so deeply integrated into our identity into who we are that it becomes automatic leadership is something you represent it emits out of you the leadership is so authentic it doesn't come off as manipulative or trying hard and that's what's gonna make you a powerful leader but the key here is the recognizing that you can develop leadership skills I come from a background where it's very shy very timid and it'll be very hard for me to lead others but I made a commitment to myself many years ago that I was going to learn leadership and I made a commitment to myself every day that I'm going to integrate these principles to a higher and higher level because there's no limit to how far you can take this and how much impact you can have on others as a result of the philosophies number two the laws can stand alone each law complements all the others but you don't need one in order to learn another the key here is recognizing where your weak areas are where your opportunities are for growth and go to work on that law first and through time and momentum you will be able to integrate these philosophies the principles into who you are to make yourself a entik leader that flows naturally number three the laws carry consequences with them apply the laws and people will follow you violate or ignore them and you will not be able to lead others throughout my journey I've made a lot of mistakes and I made a lot of mistakes and if I look back at my mistakes I can track them back to these laws as far as leadership goes that's the power behind this book is if you can really work and integrate these laws and recognize that there are positive effects and negative effects from working with them negative being if you disregard them recognizing that and number two and taking action and applying them if you can do these things then your results are going to increase as far as leadership goes and having a high level of leadership ability allows you to grow your business faster to advance yourself in your career and arguably one of the most important elements allows you to lead yourself because good leaders can lead themselves and so today you must make a commitment that you're going to lead yourself to the implementation with persistence and diligence of each of these laws number three the laws carry consequences with them number four the laws are the foundation of leadership once you learn the principles you have to practice them and apply them to your life you look for opportunities where you can apply these principles to every area of your life your business your relationships your dealing with others this might come off as being challenging and I haven't met a single person in existence and I've met a lot of very high-level executives and business owners a lot of really successful people who have integrated these principles 100 percent all the time that stated there is a lot of opportunity for you to grow from this and there's a lot of opportunity for you to get ahead if you understand that these principles are universal and they can be applied to any area of your life and they must be applied to every area of your life if you want to get success in your primary application which is usually entrepreneurship or business because that's what I talk about in this channel or your career how you do one thing is how you do everything that stated let's jump into the laws number one the law of the lid leadership ability is the lid that determines a person's level of effectiveness the lower and individual individuals ability to lead the lower the lid on his potential the higher the leadership the greater the effectiveness so effectiveness is really measured by your ability to create concrete results in the world it's not measured by your ability to theorize or conceptually explain concepts really well being able to theorize and explain concepts really well is part of leadership but it is not the measure of good leadership real leadership is measured in the results if you and your company and you and your team produce results as a result of integrating the leadership components discussed here then you're on the right track if you just simply can talk about these principles and you're not accomplishing anything thus we measure effectiveness by results if you up your ability to lead others including yourself then you can create far more results as a result of the integration and the mastermind inspiring motivating and influencing others to take the actions that will produce the results and not just actions optimal actions that being said if you want to develop the ability to influence others you must learn leadership because if you don't do that then people are not going to listen to you and we're going to talk about the different elements of leadership in this video but it is the lid okay the lid of your the ceiling the limit of how far you can go in your life is really based on your limit to lead and inspire others okay this is very important you can get very far doing things yourself but you're gonna get a lot further a lot further if you know how to read people acquire the right talent motivate and inspire that talent to chase your vision which is an alignment with their vision and that is a fact you can look around and you can see the greatest organizations the greatest Crusades the greatest businesses even if they're very lean and have a small staff are riddled with partner strategic alliances that are formed by great leaders to change the direction of the organization change the leader to change the direction of the organization change the leader sometimes changing the leader is required if you work for an organization in which the leader does not work to develop leadership skills and it's not insatiable for it then you as a individual must develop leadership skills and then at a certain point at a certain time you might find yourself not working for that company anymore if however the organization that you work for at a high level recognizes that other leaders in the organisation's will not develop leadership skills then they aim to seek to either grow them or replace them because leadership comes from the top down it trickles from the top down great leaders inspire and insatiably build other leaders remember I mentioned this earlier it was my paramount understanding throughout this journey that great leaders work to build other great leaders the good news is that getting rid of leader isn't the only way just as I teach in conferences there is a lid I also teach that you can raise it so if a individual in your organization is not a good leader you as the leader had need to take ownership for them and grow them by introducing them to these concepts by teaching them these principles these philosophies and ensuring there's an accountability process in place where they put them into action and they understand and they have buy-in as to why they need to integrate this because remember the 48 laws of power Robert Green talks about self-interest if you can show them how their career and their benefit is going to be a net result of integration of these philosophies then you're going to have buy-in but you as a leader or the influencer need to be able to communicate that to them if you can't communicate it to them and you define somebody that can bridge the communication if you don't do that then you're not going to get through to them and your organization is not going to thrive number two the law of influence your ability to influence people does not mean a forcefulness okay power is not forcefulness yes you can have power over somebody by forcing them but in today's world it's more nuanced than that you have to learn how to influence and influence is subtle people are looking at you and they're evaluating you and they're looking at what you do and who you are as a person and your character and your consistency or lack thereof and you don't have to be perfect but they're evaluating you on these elements and many more to determine if they want to be led by you and everybody secretly silently wants to be led they want someone who is at a higher level than them to grow them to help them get to a higher level and that is what real leadership is about is about influencing others to grow to a higher level for their own self-interest so let's look at some of the myths about leadership leadership is not defined by management okay just because you're a manager or you're in a management position doesn't make you a leader and just because somebody is in a management position over you does not make them a good leader now you need to take responsibility for your own leadership skills but recognize that these myths about leadership for a lot of times people will say well this person is at a higher position therefore they are qualified to lead me absolutely not absolutely not they're only qualified to lead you if they demonstrate leadership principles leadership skills and they go first otherwise you're going to feel it you're not going to want to assign them or believe that they're your leader and there's going to be internal resistance entrepreneurs just because somebody started a business or they own the company as the entrepreneur again doesn't make them a good leader what makes him a good leader is that they are practicing these principles and if they are a great leader they are inspiring leaders inspiring others to become leaders yes they have followers but they grow at a rapid rate through leading and building other leaders next is knowledge just because somebody has specialized knowledge in Napoleon Hill talks about specialized knowledge and thinking Grow Rich or they have a special skill or they have certain credentials doesn't make them a good leader I've seen a lot of people when I worked in corporate and even in the companies that I consult with who are very skilled amazing special high skilled in various professional areas who do not have good leadership skills and because of that they stifle their career so therefore there comes a time in every person's life if they want to advance their career or advance their business well they must seek out and develop leadership skills because knowledge just having it and just being very good at what you do is not making you a good leader because you might not know how to transfer that knowledge on to someone else you might not know how to influence others to participate with you on a project you might not know how to pull resources together human resources together who have access to assets and different kinds of financial resources or different kinds of resources to get the job done ok because at the end of the day leadership is about effectiveness getting the job done now this being said if you are specialized in a certain skill it doesn't necessarily mean that you can get the job done faster then another firm who has a leader who not only has that skill the great leadership skills because they're able to pull resources together they're able to create a crusade they're able to get people together to participate and work together by them understanding the various elements of leadership to get it done faster more effective and with greater magnitude than you can because you just have the knowledge again pioneer which is kind of like an entrepreneur a pioneer someone who invented a technology somebody who created something new in the world that now the world is become almost dependent on and so forth now you'll see this very often in the technology sector just because you created that doesn't make you a good leader and that's why a lot of companies tech companies when they get funding they bring on the venture capitalist or whoever's funding will bring on the leadership team and bring on the leadership team because leadership is a different skill than being a pioneer now you can have both and there are great examples of those and you know I like to develop leaders who are also pioneers good managers great entrepreneurs very knowledgeable also because those are some high-level individuals you know they're they have the ability to not only integrate and apply these different areas but they also are able to develop other leaders by being more multi-dimensional and developing not only the leadership skills but the other elements from these other areas in that individual to create even higher level leaders there are people like that and they're the ones that have massive organizations or they have huge audiences and followings because they inspire others and they create new things but they also surround themselves with others that they can grow but it's not necessarily Biss based on them being the visionary so being a visionary or the Pioneer doesn't make you a necessarily a influencer somebody who can influence somebody who could lead others makes this position position just because you have a title of CEO or VP or CEO or MIT or senior manager or whatever doesn't make you an excellent influencer you might have acquired that position perhaps through playing the political game or maybe you are fortunate enough to get the position through your hard work and dedication but keeping it and performing really well in there requires integration of the leadership skills otherwise you're just a title you're just a title now the higher the position you usually bigger the company the more the responsibility the more pressure the individual is under to perform as a leader and the more nuanced and the more granular these elements become because you know I'd love to share all my experiences and stories and nuances that I have gathered through my experience and I'm sure the author of the book John Maxwell would love to have shared it also he shared a lot of examples but there's so much that you learn through taking action through experience that really comes out that really shines when you're in that position and your lack of lack of ability to integrate and apply or understanding also shines in that position thus we as leaders need to make sure we're constantly growing if you are either blessed with a high-level position for whatever reason skill Luck chance must make a commitment to yourself to build your leadership skills this never ends because when you do and when you produce results you will move to a higher level and at that level you require a further understanding and development of leadership skills good books to read is influenced the psychology of persuasion by Robert Cialdini also I recommend reading the 48 laws of power the 33 strategies of war and a lot of different kinds of nonlinear type of influence books because I want you to recognize that it's not just like a 1-2-3 step to influence there's so many dynamics at play if it was easy everyone can do it taking action and evaluating and looking at how your team responds to what you do and being very conscious on what you do and what you say and how it influenced others and how to optimize based on that the various books including books like the art of seduction which is not really a book that is discussed on the perspective of leadership but it does get to the core of various elements of persuasion also I recommend learning copywriting direct response marketing marketing in general sales skills okay read spin selling by Neil Rackham all these different of elements that are covered in these books level up your ability to ethically influence somebody towards a win-win outcome another book to read is seven Habits of Highly Effective People there's a ton of information this is a life long journey and just because you have these titles here or here in these positions doesn't make you a great leader it's a lifelong journey and your ability to lead others is managed in your or your ability to lead others is determined by your ability to create results we look at the results and then we see if you're a good leader law of process although it's true that some people are born with greater natural gifts and others the ability to lead is really a collection of skills nearly all of which can be learned and improved but that process does not happen overnight now if you want to get into a higher leadership position if you want to make the big dollars and higher level executive positions if you want to be VP or CEO and I consult with a lot of them as much as part of my management consulting business you have to recognize that this comes from experienced leaders learn through experience and then reference back to books and information to further build our skill but they spend most of their time in the arena practicing leadership a practicing leadership every action that they take is intentional designed to provoke a response and if it's not favorable they optimize it that's what the best leaders do and it's a lifelong commitment and the big responsibilities if you want to ensure increased likelihood that you get paid really well for what you do in the leadership position including if you wanna run your own business then you must make this a lifelong skill leaders are learners a leaders are learners I can tell the level of a leader by house insatiable they are about learning most of your time should be dedicated to action taking and learning and flection learning and reflection this is provided that you want to achieve a high level of success if you want to achieve a high level of success if you want mediocre levels of success then you're not going to be able to develop the skills to the magnitude as we're discussing in here number one number two you're not going to be very respected by others when you do end up in a leadership role okay if you are in a position of being a leader and you don't develop leadership skills you're not insatiable about it you're going to have a lot of issues there's only one way to go and it's up you can't stay still recognizes as the world gets more complex and people get more intelligent and you're competing with many others who aren't integrating this insatiably you can't stay still you're going to fall behind so therefore dedicating yourself to lifelong learning lifelong learning making a commitment to yourself that you're going to learn leadership for the rest of your life that you're going to take inventory of what's being discussed in this video in the book and you're going to reference the other material that's discussed in the book in the video and you're gonna create a checklist of all the areas that you're going to want to improve on in one of the things I learned from Evan pagan is the five areas that you're gonna want to develop number one public speaking sales marketing language and communication these might at a general high level seem kind of simple but believe me there is so much to it that you can dedicate an entire life to develop them there are so many levels to public speaking it's not just you getting up on a microphone and being able to talk really well if you want to be a leader you have to be persuasive in your public speaking your public speaking has to provoke action language and communication the ability to sequence words every word every sentence you say is intentional designed to create response in the other person to level them up into their leadership roles to inspire them to take action marketing your ability to market yourself to others your ability to market your products and service to others is not just something that you can learn in a quick course if you study the world of paid advertising direct response marketing copywriting which is areas that I'm very passionate about and I dedicate a lot of time every day to learn these areas not just from the courses in the books that I read but the application of the concepts I learned in my business and believe me I believe I'm just scratching the surface I believe I'm just scratching the surface there's a lot to learn so lifelong learning is very important as a leader let's talk about the four phases of leadership growth number one I don't know what I don't know at this stage you really don't know and you're kind of just doing things okay you're just doing things and if things don't work out you might have blaming the other person saying it's their fault very easy to scapegoat in the world of leadership even at high levels of leadership you'll see this because we have to as leaders be constantly reminded that we don't have the luxury to blame someone else we don't have the luxury and the ease of releasing tension but you're just saying that it's somebody else's fault as a leader you are being judged you are being evaluated by the results and if you can't get your team to do something it's not your team's fault you need to look at all the dynamics at play and recognize that if the result didn't happen then you failed let as a leader this might sound pretty harsh but that's what leadership is and the higher the leader the more they think like this the more they believe reality to work like this they see themselves as the cause rather than the effect next is I know what I don't know I know what I don't know so in this area you're looking at okay how can I improve perhaps you're watching this video reading a book and you're like okay well I now have some key insights that I've pulled from here that I'm going to integrate because I recognize in various situations I didn't integrate those principles and I'm going to work on them and if I find myself in those situations again I'm going to see how well I perform in there I'm gonna see how well I perform in there okay that would be that level next is I grow and know and it starts to show I grow and know and it starts to show what this means is that you are now on this journey of as soon as something doesn't work out you grow from it you learn from it you learn what you could have done and if you don't know what you could have done you seek out guidance Mentors you seek out books different discussion groups etc to figure out how you can make the result happen because and I mention this and I'll mention again it's the theme of the video if you can't produce the results then you don't have the level of leadership for that position or for that responsibility your results determines your level of leadership and when you integrate over to or are at level of I grow and know and it starts to show your insatiable about it you go out there you take action you apply if you make a mistake you get back into the lab and you learn then you go back out there and you integrate again next is I simply go because of what I know this is where your self-confidence is high to the level where you're a small minority in the population most people do not have the self esteem the self confidence the belief in a book a book to read on this is the six pillars of self esteem by Nathaniel Branden I did a video on that I put a link in the description you go you take action because you know because of experience now this does not happen unless you get the experience this could take years decades arguably three four decades to have this kind of experience now somebody who's been growing and dedicating himself to the lifelong journey of mastering leadership and the skills and the sub skills and all the different elements of their trade a good book a good movie to watch his hero Dreams of Sushi I recommend it is actually on a flight and I watched that video on the flight and I watched it a couple of times because it's always good to remind yourself that you can level up further he believes in the Kaizen method of improvement making incremental improvements and a lifelong dedication towards making those improvements when you get to a certain point then you develop what Robert Greene talks about in the 33 strategies of war finger Schmitz and go fool which is a German a German military war term that says fingertip feel it means fingertip feel your ability to assess a situation and make a decision quick without thinking about it intuitive flair this happens and you'll see great leaders do this make decisions really fast even if it's a polarizing decision even if it's a decision that the rest of the team does not agreement agree with but at the end of the day because that decision the results happen okay they're very clear as to the results that need to happen and they don't let the opinions of others stifle their own decisions they make the decision they stick with it this comes through experience and when that happens others start to look around and say well this person is constantly making decisions and producing the results they must know something that's when they earn trust that's when they start to really respect you when you create the results and your team and others around you can see it and they see you produced as results then in their eyes you are a leader but if you cannot produce and you do not produce the results and you talk a lot then you're full of hot air and they're not gonna listen to you they're not gonna listen to you because you have not developed the experience to create in reality you have not developed the experience to create and result the results required in reality that's why the only thing you can do is dedicate your life to developing leadership skills and it'll show you where your weak areas are and then you go to work on them and you go higher and higher levels this does not happen overnight a lot of people want to be considered leaders overnight it's it's understandable it's a human desire to want to be loved and respect did but real leaders do not look for that they don't do things for egotistical reasons they do it because they want to produce results and they look for the fastest way to ethically produce the results and they get better and better at it and they start to learn how to work with others to produce those results and through experience month after month year after year decade after decade they rise up to the ranks of higher level leaders number four the law of navigation law of navigation the mark of a good leader is somebody that can predetermine the course of action that could sequence the course of actions required for the teams to move forward and even if they don't know the granulars they can orchestrate others on the team to be able to do that so that everyone is clear on the course of action required to meet the objective they lay out the goals they adjust priorities they give the priorities or assign priority assignments over to other leaders on the team and they notify key personnel on various elements required to move the campaign forward key insightful pieces of data they allow time for acceptance for others to integrate and understand because not everybody is at the same level of speed as far as integration goes they head into action they take action right away by leading and they go first in some shape or form whatever their responsibility is they expect that there's going to be problems there's expecting of mistakes and errors that's okay because that's growth opportunities those opportunities for optimization those are opportunities to course-correct to move the campaign forward and they always point out successes even if it's a small success if it's a big campaign and the end result is a million dollar buyout let's say and they didn't get to that point within the first two years of planning they look at how far they have grown even down to like the small elements of running a paid advertising campaign leave generated right attitude and behavior that was created as a result of taking action all the different elements that lead to the end result they able to down and they're able to recognize the successes and for those that require validation on the team or the just a nudge that they're on the right track they reach out to them and they connect with them and they share them share the successes with them and they authentically enjoy the successes because by having their team succeed or different members of the team succeed then they have succeeded also even if it's not the end result because there's always room for optimization and there's always going to be problems and a lot of times in business we don't hit the end result but the faster we can get up and optimize and take action the faster we're going to hit the end result it might not be in the direct application but it could be an indirect application or it could be an indirect method or process that we follow to hit the end result whatever it may be but that is really a result of getting the team back on track again and pointing out the successes and expecting the problems as a result of it and not breaking down gain not losing composure that's not what a good leader does again this comes through experience because amidst the turmoil of events do not lose your presence of mind which is again it's from the 33 strategies of war by Robert Greene comes through pain suffering hardship and different kinds of disasters that somebody experiences both in business and life to create that kind of presence of mind required to maintain a certain level of stoic calm even during rough situations as the business or the campaign is experienced daily review daily review your planning so essentially what this means is that reviews and you don't have to follow this statically but reviewing the progress reviewing and ensuring that it's part of the philosophy of the team to review where you are right now and what you need to improve on and the different areas that you can help them grow in because they're you're growing leaders as I mentioned the goal here is to grow leaders looking at their different elements and reviewing it on a regular basis okay not just telling them what to do and then having them disappear and they don't know what they're doing and if they're making errors you don't know nothing about it that doesn't make you a good leader okay regular reviews regular performance analysis to course-correct to help them grow to help them feel understood and recognized for the strengths and supported to develop the weakness or supported to find another source of participation I should say involvement to fulfill on the weak areas or the weakness so they don't have to do the work essentially reassigning responsibilities and things like that really just comes from reporting having proper reporting in place now personally I like to make sure you know anything that I do whether I work with a client or in my own business that there's proper reporting in place now I can't force my clients to have proper reporting sometimes these things take time I expect the problems but over the course of time I want to see the reporting in place and I do everything that I can so the reporting is placed in place so we could see the performance of employees contractors the different campaigns so that we can readjust recourse correct the different elements as far as the business goes to really determine what the priorities are and then gather the resources to fulfill on those priorities so we can move it forward but that way of being that way of doing things now a leadership can't come unless you have proper reporting in place now I'd love to spend four or five hours discussing those eight hours there's so much to it and I'm giving you my insights and perspectives from my experience in relation to the book but this is there's so many different elements again it only comes from experience the reporting is one of the key factors start with small reports and integrate and make your reports more complex not to waste your time in the sense that you're going to spend all day looking at reports but you can put reporting systems in place you can assign people but the reporting needs to be there in place you can look at the key performance indicators to make educated decisions next the law of EF Hutton when a real leader speaks people listen when a real leader speaks people listen self-appointed leaders or those that say that they are leaders but don't we have the respect of others are boring to listen to or most people do not want to pay attention to them and the reason why is because they don't have the results and they don't have the ability to inspire and uplift and motivate those from a self-fulfillment type of way a self what's the word I'm looking for self-interest type of way for the listener in a way that's connected to the mutual benefit of the leader and the follower they don't have that ability because they don't have the experience and that's when people when they talk people don't want to listen to them okay they try to avoid them so how do you become a real leader then if you want people to listen to you and be inspired by you so that they can hit their goals so it could be win-win how do you do that well let's look at the seven elements that were discussed in the book number one is character it's who they are it's who they are they're not putting up a front they're not being fake they're being real and it's life experience and different kinds of hard time spent in the trenches that allows them to have the command for respect automatically we can see through people's nonsense when people are talking nonsense we can see through it and intuitively we gravitate towards people who know what they're talking about and they carry with them magnetism charisma because they've been there they've done that and they understand us they understand us and it's from this place that we know that they as in the orator or the leader has our best interest at heart they really care about us they want us to succeed they pour their hearts out to do everything they can within their power and they think about it all the time how can we succeed they're not looking to be number one and be the cool one they're looking to create results the results that they committed to the results that are in the mutual benefit of the followers or the other leaders those are elements of character relationships okay if we've built a relationship with them and we trust them we know who they are we feel a certain connection to them you don't have to have even met them you could feel a connection through them through the internet through various social media but it's this assurance that they're like us that they understand us that builds a relationship we we start to authentically like them and when we like someone were more likely to trust them and we're more when we have we have earned that trust ok it's not handed to us and we have earned that trust from another person or a group of people then we have the ability to influence then we have the ability to influence next is knowledge what they know ok they're very knowledgeable about a certain subject they have a certain level of expertise they have a great ability to explain concepts and theories in a way that helps us understand because they've developed a skill or they're just really passionate about it and they love to share we look at them as leaders we give them the platform we allow them to speak we'll sit there and we'll listen to them and we'll reflect upon what they're saying and their influential to us because they know that what they know is beneficial for us and as the student or the listener or a aspiring leader we listen to them because they know that they have our best interests at heart intuition what they feel ok good leaders can feel their way through the room good leaders can feel their way through the room intuition is there when we're at a young age it gets stifled and put on the back shelf by people who tell us that their way of doing things is better and we shouldn't listen to ourselves the good leaders also inspire intuition in others a good book that I'm going to do is self-realization fear of the yogi by Palma honza Yogananda he was big on Self Realization ok all the answers are within yourself a good leader helps you tap into those answers they're not upset if you don't do things their way they're supportive there's a lot of power a lot of nuance there to have that kind of magnetism but they're able to do this based on intuition and your intuition gets more refined it allows you to connect to the intuition what I believe is you always there with you always had this intuition just that maybe you spend a lot of time looking around to see what other people are doing and telling you what to do and taking action based on that well at a certain point when you want to develop good leadership skills you have to come back to that you have to connect back to your intuition and you have to inspire others to have that connection to the intuition because that will allow you to see through the BS because a lot of people can talk really well they have a really good game as far as talking goes but if you look in their eyes and if you can feel out their vibe you'll see there's something not right about them that ability to differentiate comes from experience and connection back and Trust and self worth and self confidence in your own intuition experience where they have been they've built the businesses or they have led others they have produced results as a result of what they did not just because they've been there but because they have results in those experience more likely to trust them we tend to read a lot of books by famous authors including someone like this because they have experience they have produced the results so they seem like a trustworthy source a good book to read again is influenced psychology persuasion they have authority and authority is a subconscious trigger in our brain when someone is authoritative based on the experience more likely to trust them so having experience and developing a diverse palette diverse array of experiences can be beneficial for you as a leader because you have a lot to bring to the table past successes what kind of results have they created in their life how is their health their fitness their ability to deal in tough situations financial success okay whatever it is that someone who has leadership either appointed or we in our mind consider a leadership has as far as those areas go and many more as far as success goes is going to motivate us to want to listen to them unconditionally okay openly and we respect them because they've been there if you haven't been there then it's hard to get the respect from another person now I meet a lot of people and one of their complaints is that people aren't listening to them people aren't paying attention to them and then they call the other people rude because they're not listening to them and when I suggest that perhaps it's not the other people perhaps they're not listening to you because you're not communicating in a way that benefits them you have to look for the sweet spot an area where you're passionate about communicating a subject that you're passionate about communicating a knowledge your expertise that you have that you're passionate about the other person feels that they can benefit from by listening to you when you found that you found the student-teacher dynamic you found the leadership role that you are supposed to play if you try to pose as a leader in areas where you don't have the success and you're not able to project these elements here people are not gonna pay attention to you and you can't force them and you at the end of the day after recognizing what we're talking about here you can't blame them you've got to take responsibility that's the way it is of the leader you know the leader has to take responsibility that's why real authentic leadership can be not easy in the beginning until you realize how it works then it becomes easy because you realize the rules and how it works and you don't have the resistance to all belief systems that essentially made created internal friction between who you are and what real leadership is ability what they can do okay the influence that they have can they pull the resources together to create the results if it's a business and you're part of a business and they need to pull some capital in to fund some of the operations or the projects or the campaigns can they do it can they actually go out there and do it can they pull people together with ease to support you can they support you in very various areas now there's obviously a limit to it you can't expect them to spoon-feed you because at the same time we're talking about building leaders here and a good leader gives you what you need to grow not what you want because what happens is that what we want is always not always but a lot of times especially in order stages what we want is actually not what we need to grow as leaders good leaders are able to see what you need and even if they can't give you what you want or they will not absolutely will not give you what you want and you're upset about it they're ok with it because they recognize by giving you what you want rather than what you need is actually going to be a disservice to you and one day in your life when you get to a certain level of leadership you're gonna recognize that and you're gonna value this I know I can speak from experience from some of my earlier inventors when I was in my 20s when I was working in corporate there was all kinds of things I used to ask for because I wanted it because I thought it would help me well my mentors never gave it to me they never gave it to me because they wanted me to recognize the power of being resourceful the power of working with what you have even though they could give it to me they did not because they wanted to build leaders I told them that's what I wanted I've wanted to one day start my own business I wanted to be an entrepreneur and thus they instilled in me through experience abilities to be risk for resourcefulness which helped me in later on in my career number six the law of solid ground Trust is the foundation of leadership a trust is the foundation of leadership that's the solid ground right there having trust the first thing we should do is aim to seek trust with anyone especially if you're in a leadership position especially if you're in a position of influence if you can't influence them and they're not listening to you then you don't have the trust you have to build a trust first it's very easy and I made this mistake a lot of times in my life too hastily tell people what they should do or need to do without having the trust and then my work sometimes but those that have a high level of self-esteem and self-confidence will never be influenced unless they trust you because it's from that trust that they know that you have their best interests in mind so therefore dedicate as much time in the beginning to create that trust before you go out there and start telling people what to do anyone when you even when you tell people what to do you're never really telling someone with a high level of self-confidence well what to do you're essentially partnering with them in a some way that's a mutually win-win but the foundation is trust that's the solid ground it's not the decision it is the leadership it's not the decision it's the leadership so why did I pull this quote well it stood out for me because a lot of times we try to get people to make a decision or we have an idea or a decision and they're not buying in on the decision and then we look at that and we say why didn't you do it or we get upset at them and we recognize once we start to get a certain level of leadership that it wasn't about the decision they would have made that decision they would have had buy-in had we had built the foundation of trust okay if you don't have the foundation of trust then you don't have the good grounds for leadership all these other things we're talking about may not work may not work most likely will not work so you have to build a trust first and then you can test it by small asking for small decisions or facilitating small decisions to see how much trust you have and once you have that trust it's important to not break the trust because the decision has to be towards win-win because if it's not you'll lose the trust and I've made this mistake a lot of times also and now I recognize that Trust is really valuable you work so hard to find the right people with the right attitude and bring them into your life to be a mutual benefit and if you build the trust which takes time takes effort takes energy and break the trust you might not get it back from them and then you'd have to go out and do it again you have to find other people that you could build the trust with character communicates consistency okay if you want to have a solid ground and demonstrate trust it's not enough to tell people or you should never really say it trust me okay trust me telling someone to trust you doesn't work Trust is earned and it's demonstrated through your consist see through your potential and through your respect for them if they feel respected and you are consistent in what you say you're going to do and if you can't do it if you can't be consistent you discuss it you jump on a call with them or you meet them in person and you talk about your lack of consistency and you show them that you've got something in place that is going to prevent that from happening again and you don't do that you don't you know pull that card out all the time and demonstrate inconsistency if you show them consistency and you're willing to learn from your mistakes well now you're gonna get trust the law of respect law of respect leaders go their own way when a group comes together leaders go their own way when a group comes together leaders do not participate in groupthink in 33 strategies of war avoid the snares of groupthink leaders know what their vision our vision is and when a group comes together they need to understand how it fits into their vision if it does not they're gonna go elsewhere they're gonna go somewhere else thus when you're working with other leaders it's important to be respectful and partner with them in the right way if you approach them the wrong way or you try to tell them what they do what to do you will break trust because you don't have respect for them okay so when you build leaders be prepared because as they connect to their core they're going to want to do things their way and the worst thing that you could do is tell them that they're wrong worst thing you could do is tell them what they're wrong the best thing you can do is seek to understand them stephen r.covey talks about this in the seven habits seek first to understand then to be understood show a genuine interest in wanting to understand the leader because if they are strong powerful leaders and they don't feel understood a lot of times they have a lot of responsibility they're very involved with a lot of things and they don't see you making an effort to be the trust with them they're not going to want to listen to you that's just how it is that's how you build respect is by valuing leaders by recognizing that and if you're a leader to recognize that in yourself when you come together in a group and you want to do your own things well if others are trying to hold you back and you stay there and you're not happy you're holding back your own leadership skills your own leadership ability you're holding yourself back so the key is to open dialogue open discussion as to why you see things differently and if they can't participate in that dialogue and discussion or it's too difficult for you to create the ability to influence or to influence that might not be the best scenario for you perhaps you'll be better qualified leader through experience or perhaps they don't have your best interests in heart soon people change too soon people change direction to follow the strongest leader one of the things that I've been really fascinated about is what NLP calls frame control frame control the ability to go into an environment and then you being the cause the primary cause in the environment and watching the environment react to you I've been fascinated this about this concept for many years okay and what I recognize is that that's something that's earned okay that's something that's earned through experience it's not something that you can force when someone is forcing it they're trying too hard and they don't have the frame it's very delicate to have strong frame control and when you have strong frame control you have a lot of influence you know you have good frame control and you record I recommend studying frame control in NLP and there's so much to it arguably one of the most important things because those that have massive strong frame control lead others with massive charisma get others to do things and having strong frame control can be positive and negative some individuals have very powerful frame control and can lead others down a negative path but they break trust and it leads into an unethical outcome what I recommend is learning how to develop frame control for win-win-win-win that way it'll keep growing and you don't have live with any kind of anything waiting on your consciousness let's say because the goal here is to lead others towards a win-win outcome and ethical outcome one that's beneficial for you and them and if you've got good frame control then you're gonna able to be able to do it and you'll notice that people will start to move in your direction note this might not happen overnight you could walk into a room and right then and there you might get a lot of resistance because you might have a very polarizing viewpoint very polarizing view of reality and people are looking at you in there like well I don't know if I can trust this guy he's got a lot of confidence he's got a lot of frame they might understand what this stuff is and they must say well I don't know this person is trustworthy though they're going to have to prove their trust and then they'll test you they'll test you over and over again and if you pass the tests by being consistent by demonstrating respect and showing them that you have value they're demonstrating that you have value sometimes you might want to talk about it but it's really they're gonna observe your actions and how you respond to them and how you treat others once you do that then they will turn over to you and they will listen to you they'll trust you and then you're able to lead them usually you'll find that those that are the hardest to persuade the strongest leaders they have the strongest frame control make the best strategic alliances because they have massive followings they didn't get to having that strong frame control just by being themselves and them alone they usually have a lot of people that support them their followers those that are supporters of their cause because someone with strong frame control strong authentic frame control commands the respect and people since they're silently looking to be led will move in their direction so they already come with a massive team or massive audience and if you want their respect you've got to demonstrate the respect you cannot have it you'll see this a lot in the world of business this is a great example a lot of people want to partner with those that have huge lists or huge audiences and the approach people who have them and then they say hey you want to do a partnership and they haven't earned the trust so usually they'll you'll they'll be hearing no and then what they do is they say well it didn't work I'm gonna try another person they just keep doing it over and over again and they never really get anywhere instead of bringing something of concrete value to the table now we're not going to get into the discussion of this because I mentioned earlier that as far as leadership goes it's demonstration of these elements but you do have to bring a lot of goods to the table you can't fake that in a way you can say that one can't really have a high level of frame control unless they have experience and the conscious awareness of what develops strong frame control and they practice it every day it's easier said than done it's not just a matter of just sitting there and looking calm it's being able to handle various dynamics and situation in the present moment and through that leaders are emerged and this might not happen like I said in one interaction it could span multiple interactions but if you are a strong leader people will eventually eventually move in your direction people naturally align themselves and follow leaders stronger than themselves a very related to the frame control element whoever has the strongest frame in the room wins now if the fake frame and you have strong core leaders in the room and they don't wish to participate in your imposing frame where you're trying too hard they're going to leave ok they're going to leave the room they're not going to be there and then you're gonna be left with a bunch of people in the room that even though you've been manipulating a strong frame aren't necessarily going to help you with your crusade so be very mindful of that number eight the law of intuition how leaders think leaders are readers of their situation leaders are readers of trends leaders are readers of the sources leaders are readers of people leaders are readers of themselves they can read a situation and know how to act they followed the trends where the marketplace is going where everyone is going and they're able to work with it they're not jaded by it they remain detached an objective they know how to work with their resources financial resources various resources to become very resourceful they could read people really well they know who's lying and who's not they could see through even the most polished form of verbal communication and they can read body language they could read the signs they could read the energy and they could read themselves and they could read themselves because you'll recognize this it's not necessarily what happens to you but how you respond to it that matters it's not necessarily what happens to you but how you respond to it that matters that's going to determine your level of leadership and others are going to be watching law of magnetism who you are is who you attract who you are is who you attract most people can mention this earlier talk a good game but I look around to see who they're around I look at the people that they are associated with and I could tell who they are this can help you if you look around and see who others are associated with person that you're dealing with is associated with you can determine how much of a level of a facade they're putting on or if they're being real with you because the truth is that you are who you are is who you attract now if you don't like what you attract in your life and it's up to you to take responsibility to change elements in yourself to grow elements of yourself to focus on developing your weak areas and you'll find yourself in a different situation you'll find yourself around different people you'll find that different people gravitate towards you and this can be a lot of fun because if you can ideally map out who you aspire to be like the kind of person that you want to be and then you go to work you go and dedicate the rest of your life to developing yourself to become that person you'll start to see that who you attract changes in your life and these people will seek you out these people will seek you out they'll come towards you it'll almost feel like they just gravitated towards you that's because they can spot it they can read you and they can read your body language and they could read how you're communicating to others and yourself here are the elements of magnetism that were covered in the book attitude generous general a generation okay so we're magnetically attracted to those from our same generation background same values same life experiences and leadership ability high level leaders hang around with high level leaders if you want to level up your leadership skills look at the different components contained within our discussion that you can work on and then you will attract those high level leaders also you'll gravitate towards them and lower level leaders that you're currently around will not be there anymore and you won't have the desire to associate with them because they they just don't want to grow or be they're not growing at a pace that you're growing at number 10 the law of connection connect with people one at a time connect with people one at a time the mark of a true good powerful leader is how much respect they have for each person that they have within their awareness the waiter the person in the elevator the high-level executive they treat everyone with respect everyone I always say this and this is a philosophy that I've been living by and I constantly I'm making sure that I go to work on developing and doing even more and that is that the most important person in your life is the person in front of you right now the most important person in your life is the person in front of you right now that means no matter where you are that whoever's in front of you you treat them with respect because the truth is that people are teaching you about yourself all the time okay that that's going to help you with intuition leaders are readers of themselves how you respond to people indicates your strengths and weaknesses when you're talking with someone if you're looking around to see who you can talk to next and you're not really valuing the conversation then you don't really value yourself you don't really value yourself those that I mean to have a very high level of core confidence value every communication with everyone I'll never forget when I met John Mackey the founder of Whole Foods I had a conversation with him and I had to look down in his nametag to see who he was he was the most authentic and one of the most authentic and present people I've ever met in my life who had such a high position you know founder of Whole Foods recently did the big deal with Amazon but yet he lives this philosophy he lives the philosophy he connects with people one at a time and that's why he doesn't just have success in business but he looked like somebody who had success in a lot of areas of his life and created a massive amount of contribution and made me feel good made me feel good and he did this with everyone and then five minutes later he was on stage addressing a large crowd of very successful entrepreneurs humility and humbleness is the mark of a successful and powerful leader humility not lowering themselves not thinking low of themselves real authentic humility and it is found by practicing connection with people one at a time the tougher the challenge the greater the connection the tougher the challenge the greater the connection again 33 strategies of war amidst the turmoil events do not lose your presence of mind this is developed through experience putting yourself in tough situations stepping outside your comfort zone and remaining there last video I did was we had superior man by david deida and i talked about how a man should live with an open heart even if it hurts okay that's what's gonna develop you as a leader adversity and not avoiding it but placing yourself in it now what's great is that the higher you rise up in the Lange ranks of leadership the more the adversities are controlled chaos rather than imposed chaos from the external world in which you actively put yourself in chaotic situations to grow yourself further but in earlier stages might not have the financial capital and so forth the surroundings the environment challenges you good book to read them and do a discussion on it is anti fragile by Nassim Taleb essentially beaking becoming a diamond by getting bashed around by the world around you by being uncomfortable and being in situations that stress you out and then learning how to make peace in those situations that's how you develop core leadership because that's what you can be projecting outwards we talked about the elements attitude attitude is one of the important elements that's developed in your ability to handle tough situations your attitude is not measured by others in situations where everything is good anybody can act like that they can act well when things are going well but it's in the tough situations so we must place ourselves in as many tough situations as possible to grow us number 11 the law of the inner circle a leaders potential is determined by those closest to them leaders potential is determined by those closest to them Napoleon Hill causes the mastermind Alliance let's talk about some of the potential values that a call circle brings to us that we can actively seek out number one is potential value those that raise themselves up being around people like that who raised themselves I'll teach you how to deal with tough times because they've been bashed around by external sources and they learned how to see the good in it how to rise himself up they can they have a lot to teach us positive value those who raise the morale in the organization okay these individuals raise the vibe and morale people around them everywhere they go they make others feel good personal value those that raise up in the leader when you're if you're a leader it's gonna be really tough especially if you're at a high level of leadership there's not a lot of people that are gonna understand your commitment and dedication towards the craft the skill of leadership most people are going to look to you to get something out of you they're going to look to you for leadership but you're not gonna have a lot of people around you that inspire you to become a better leader but when you do find people like that perhaps our other leaders so perhaps they're just individuals that lift you up that elevate you that inspire you to be your best connect with them and build a relationship with them because it could be one of your most important assets productionvalue those who raise up others and proven value those who raise up people who raise up other people those who raise up people who raise up other people they go out and they find leaders and they build leaders these are remarkable people to be around because they know how this works they know this stuff that we're talking about here like second nature and what they do is they made it a mission because that's where they create the most value because of their understanding because they're experienced because of their awareness to actively go out and find other leaders and continue to invest in them to build them up because they will do the same to others law of empowerment only secured leaders give power to others only secured leaders give power to others if you've got a strong level of self confidence and self esteem then you bring way more to give to others while others are looking for ways of taking you don't need you get everything you want in your life because you know how to make things happen thus you have a lot to give and you recognize the greatest gift that you could give to another person is to empower them to earn for themselves to build a business to develop certain skills that can make their lives better to contribute to others and you empower them through your presence through your communication through your being in order to do that you have to be secure not insecure secure because when you're secure you don't need anything from them again this is a but tougher position to be for a lot of people because they haven't reached this level yet and higher we rise up to the level of leadership higher leadership levels the more this makes sense and this is just the way it is most of your time dedicated every day as a high level leader is dedicated to giving power to others and you know how to rejuvenate it within yourself yes you'll have people around you that will also contribute to you getting power but if they weren't there you know how to create it yourself you're not reliant on others and you give it freely you give it abundantly and people want to be around you because of the magnitude in which you empower them here are some barriers that prevent us from having the kind of confidence in a career or business environment and thus make us insecure that's taking power from other people that's people don't want to be around us and people don't want to see us as leaders because you're not a leader the desire for job security resistance to change change is inevitable you can't do nothing about it it's going to happen the more resistant you are to change the more insecure you're going to be for the most part and thus others are going to feel it lack of self worth recognizing that you are enough and that you have enormous amount to give is one of the most important modus operandi views of reality that you can have recognizing that you can develop yourself and you can give me more and you focus on multiplying yourself law of reproduction essentially creating other leaders we've talked to stay extensively about this leaders create other leaders create other leaders actively look for how they can inspire others to become leaders also law of Buyan people buy into the leader then the vision people buy into the leader then the vision let's look at some scenarios when followers don't like the leader or the vision they look for another leader when followers don't like the leader but they do like the don't like the leader but they do like the I'll change this division they they still look for another leader when followers like the leader but don't like the vision they change the vision this is where it starts to work in your favor if you're likeable and you'll have the right vision they'll actually lift you up to a higher vision when followers like the leader and the vision they get behind both ideally that's where you want to be you want to have the vision and the vision must be in the best interests of those that are your followers authentically really and you demonstrate the leadership elements contained within this book which again takes time and experience to develop so if you don't have them work to develop them then you're in a powerful position because now you've got a team that's gonna follow your vision and by the way very important element is that when you get to this point it's so powerful and sold magnetic that wherever you go people will feel this way they'll see you as a leader they'll test you because they're not sure some don't really know as much they don't know if you're for real because you'll see you have a lot of confidence high level of self esteem they're not used to seeing that and they might think it's a trick so they'll test you well you passed those tests they will see you as a leader and if they you if you communicate your vision to them and it's an alignment with their vision and they believe in your vision then you're going to get a lot more people that are attracted to you and that will join your crusade in some shape or form the law of victory leaders find a way for the team to win leaders find a way for the team to VIN this means that a leader establishes what victory looks like and recognizes that everybody shares in this victory and thus need to be rewarded accordingly to benefit of the fruits of the labor and they take responsibility to ensure that the team wins on that campaign and if they don't win on the campaign they optimized a figure out a way to go back in and do it again this is a mean that they stay with a losing team all the way leaders are also great judges of character perhaps on a test they run it one test just to determine the attitudes and how the rest of team performs then they reach out to them if it doesn't work out and connect with them to try to develop the weak areas usually in a very unconventional way because not necessarily what the team wants but what it's what they need and if they're not going to get the progress from the team then they're going to go elsewhere they're going to find other team members so this is not absolute that they will stay with the team because they want to win and the team plays a role in whether they win or not but because they inspire leaders because they do that the team members rise up and they start to win they start to win more but if the team members do not value and do not practice the standards that are set up by the leader and the higher the leader the higher the standards then they might feel a lot of pressure they might feel like they're constantly being criticized and you know on one side you can say well the leader might be a little harsh but if you're developing leadership skills and you want to be a leader then recognize that harshness is the thriving ground for the leader and you got to be able to take feedback the way you receive it in the environment and a leader wants to instill that in you and they'll purposely be harsh with you purposely to grow you to level you up and if you want them to be nice to you they're actually being a disservice to you they won't do it a good leader won't do it so that's what we do is we level up we level up as the leader rises up we level up and we win more and if there's a gray area we need to bring that to the leaders attention right away a lot of this is one of the biggest takeaways that I could give to you is that in earlier stages when I was around powerful leaders and they would do things that would seem so unconventional to grow me as a leader I didn't understand what they were doing and I'd blamed them and I never talked to him about it and all that did was build resentment it actually slowed down my progress now what I do is if I'm around leaders and I'm around many leaders and they do something and I don't understand why they did it I go and talk to them but and we talk until there's clarity if there's no clarity then it's hard for me to look at them like they are leaders but a good leader is abundant in resources to be able to help those that they lead see the vision feel understood and despite the training that they give you they're willing to talk about it and through this process victory happens here the three computing components unity of vision you can see how what I just shared just now is actually making the vision stronger diversity of skills different skills come together as a team again bound together by mutual support and understanding and Trust a leader dedicated to victory and raising players to their potential a leader can see who's got the potential and raises them up to the potential raises them up to the potential but the members of the team need to be committed to raising themselves up to the potential they can't be forced they can't be manipulated they have to be in agreement that they will be part of this potential rising when I work with individuals in a context that requires me taking a leadership role and others rising themselves up to a higher level of potential I also recognize that I have to rise myself up to a higher level of potential in that dynamic and there is a clear-cut agreement with all members of the team that we're all going to rise up to the higher potential otherwise there's no deal no deal and there's open discussion there's open dialogue and there's open evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses next is the law of Big Mo momentum all the stuff that we're talking about starts small and when practice every day momentum kicks in and then when momentum is going and everybody is on the same pace leaders followers everybody in the same team we can course-correct easier because we have the momentum and every now and then we're checking with everybody in the dynamic and we're making sure that they're all on the same page and all their needs are being met again not the wants the needs needs are being met they can achieve some of the wants that are aligned with the means and if the needs are not aligned with the wants we discuss it again keeping the consideration the open discussion and there's a hierarchy structure if applicable or there's a group dynamic various different kinds of configuration but the truth is this that when momentum picks up and it's going it's hard to break it then starts then things start to really grow fast and I know this from personal experiences based on my business business that I ran before my IT business and working with my clients we try to get them to have as much momentum be in that space as possible some are a little bit more resistant than others but I personally like challenging environments because I learn sometimes I pick clients they're a little bit more difficult to work with because again it's controlled chaos so I can build leadership skills the law of priorities leaders understand that activity is not necessarily accomplishment activities not necessary accomplishment we need to prioritize we need to look at what is required to meet the objective what gives the greatest return essentially highest and best use of our time energy resources and what brings the greatest reward because people aren't going to do things unless they're passionate about doing things I like a combination of return and reward I don't in certain times in my life I'd focus more in return and reward and certain times I focus on reward more than return the sweet spot is when you find return and reward and then when you got that you look at everybody's return and reward on the team and then you look at what's required to get things done and you divvy up the tasks and as a leader of the organization of the crusade you take responsibility to make sure this happens and the other leaders and the teams are responsible and you hold them responsible and there's accountability involved that trickles up and down to get everything done so that we can move forward towards proper accomplishment not just doing things in activities a lot of businesses and I've been consulting for many years now after I had moved out of my IT business a lot of businesses have a lot of tasks a lot of processes a lot of things that they're doing that make them think that they're doing the right thing and then moving forward but it's just wasting time most businesses most businesses so a constant evaluation and looking at what are the things that are being done and modifying the process to become leaner is required now a lot of people think well that's gonna get rid of job security and so forth but when you understand that a company grows through optimization they produce more results and their focus on the results they can reinvest those profits back into their company their employees their staff their contractors they can reinvest those profits back to further grow them grow them in the skills grow them in the leadership and it's a never ending cycle but if members in the team see job security as a threat that means the leadership hasn't done a good enough job to communicate that it's not number one or number two they're just trying to work with the wrong people because the truth is that some people are just not cut out and as a leader you have to make tough decisions sometimes the law sacrifice the leader must give up to go up the higher you go the more you give up the higher you go the more you give up that's why I really recommend integrating the philosophy of minimalism understanding the value behind it one of the things I did when I got on my IT business is I got rid of all my possessions and I started living out of a backpack and the reason why I did that it's not because I couldn't afford to live but because it was an exercise it was an exercise in practicing resourcefulness which is one of the most important lessons that I had learned when I was in corporate I recognized the more extreme a personal development exercise the more resourceful I could be the more resourceful I could be the more I could value what I have purposefully and valued giving up things that don't serve me the more it was going to benefit me in multiple areas of my life and it did that became one of the big premises in my consulting business and other businesses I got involvement which was reducing the clutter the physical mental emotional clutter that exists in the companies but I couldn't have done that unless I was going to give it up ok see how this works Sakura is not necessarily a bad thing as Steve Jobs said you can only connect the dots looking backwards you can't look and connect the dots and forwards but you got to run on some of these philosophies what do you have in your life right now that is not serving you that you have to give up knowing that when you do that your ability to rise up as a leader goes up your ability to have that frame control and everything I talked about goes up your ability to ethically influence goes up and as a result the results happen okay the results happen you produce better results and the higher you go the more you're willing to give up because you don't have the luxury as a high level leader to complain the more things that you have more things that you hold on to while breaking points you have the more breaking points you have you want to reduce your breaking points and one of the biggest most important breaking point is not the thing not the emotional thing not the physical thing not the not the mental thing that you need to get let go of but the very act of letting go the very act of letting go it needs to be practiced people will come in your life and they will leave things will come into your life and they will leave emotions feelings will come into your life and then they'll go away everything that comes in your life will eventually be gone but you have to proactively train yourself to be able to value sacrifice and that right there makes for a powerful leader because a leader really shines in a time of change and during a time of change – your ability to let go shines and it's practiced the law of timing the wrong action at the wrong time leads to disaster the right action at the wrong time leads to resistance Hey the right action at the wrong time again this comes through experience in practice but use it as guide don't expect that overnight you're going to learn all these things and that said everything's gonna change make incrementally improvements we talked about momentum and the daily discipline and the practice of doing this over and over again practicing the compound effect video I did on Darren Hardy this book the compound compound effect I recommend you watch that video and read the book the wrong action at the right time is a mistake and the right action at the right time results in success again you develop the finger scripts and go fool I talked about this fingertip feel the ability to assess the situation make a quick rapid decision that moves the objective and the crusade forward that comes through experience number twenty the law of explosive growth leaders who develop followers add one at a time leaders to develop followers add one at a time I don't believe that we should look for followers I don't believe that what I believe is that all you do is dedicate yourself to becoming a better leader and those that need to follow you for reason of mutual benefit will happen number one number two the highest level as leaders to develop leaders multiply the growth this is the focus right here this is when the leverage point is treat your followers as leaders okay rather than followers lot people want followers so they can feel admired and respected because they need that validation because they don't have the strong self-confidence to get the validation from within instead look to Train leaders in everything you do you are training leaders you are looking for leaders you are inspiring leaders you are training leaders who are growing leaders and you're doing it in various different ways different ways some of the more hands-on approach some of more hands-off approach but that's how you grow as a leader by removing your ego out of the equation and wanting to be cool and respected rather than being effective rather than producing results and the way we do that is by looking to see how everybody that we come across with everybody that we deal with we see them as potential leaders even if it's just a little bit higher okay some will have way more potential than others but you're looking to empower each person there's a saying always leave a person better off and when you met them and if you want to clarify this further in the context of what we've been discussing always leave a person at a higher level of leadership than when you met them various different ways of doing it and if you challenge yourself to do that to contemplate on how you can do that then you're moving in a very powerful direction there's not a lot of people focus on that number 21 the law of legacy a leaders lasting value is measured by succession leaders that lasting value is measured by succession something interesting happens once you start to achieve a lot of the things that you saw it off to achieve in your life and you start hitting your goals you start maybe enjoying the fruits of your labor and at some point you say you know what now I get more joy from having others experience what I experienced now I have more joy by having others experience what I have experienced the growth the rewards that only happens through experience that's why it's a 21st law once you have achieved once you have experience then you go on a crusade to help others get that because that's where you get the most joy now it's interesting is that your results go up exponentially as a result of that it's very powerful stuff but in order to get there and you cannot get there prematurely because logic will want to talk about success without actually achieving any form of success there's a certain time in your life recognized it's going to be a calling and it's going to happen you're going to get to a point where you're gonna feel it in your heart that it's now it's time to share what you've learned and know now that you've experienced what you've experienced and you have done really very well from your for yourself through all the hardships you have a passion a mission to share it with others and you feel it in your heart that will happen and then your leadership multiplies but in order to get there you must go through it can't stress this enough implementing everything we've talked about in this video you don't have to be perfect at it you don't have to be a hundred percent in it because I mentioned this earlier we get better the more we implement the more we implement the more we get the more the better we get at it you know and then and then what happens is then you want to share it and it's gonna come from a good place and you want to inspire others as a results but you absolutely need to take action you need to do it don't talk about it do it the results a leader is measured by the results that they create if you want to copy
