to make submissions Thank You mr. speaker I call Chum McIndoe Mr Speaker I wasn’t expecting to take a call on the family and far no violence legislation bill but I am very pleased to do so not only because it’s a subject that’s dear to my heart but I see I think it’s a subject that’s dear to the heart of every member of this house and it has been encouraging to hear such intelligent and sensitive contributions from members across the house and I do thank them for that I am very mindful of the fact that the galleries are filling and I would flatter myself to think that they are here for me but I know that they’re not nevertheless given the fact that the the main act appears not to be quite present at this moment I I shall oblige the opposition on this occasion by assisting them out of their little predicament well my very good friend the senior opposition web sees that he can rectify the mighty problem that exists at this moment sir in all seriousness this is a very important bill and I endorsed the comments of Louis awal the member who spoke before me and in particular as she did I want to acknowledge the tremendous work that women’s refuges do around the country and sincerely thank them because what incredible challenges what heartbreaking cases they sometimes have to deal with and in my own electorate in Hamilton West I want to acknowledge the fine work that our Women’s Refuge do sir we cannot do enough to try to get on top of this problem because it’s an astonishing blight on our society that such a terrible situation exists in a country of such wonderful opportunity we have so much going for ourselves where there’s so much wonderful things happening but Sir I’m delighted to be able to say now that the other reason why the galleries are so full has in it i therefore i have great patient commending this build of the house members must order this debate has concluded the question is that the motion be agreed to those that opinion was say I to the country no the eyes have it family and far no violence legislation bill first reading the question is that the family and far no violence legislation bowl be considered by the justice and electoral committee those of that opinion will say I to the contrary know the eyes effort members and accordance with the determination of the business committee I call on the Honorable David Cunliffe to make as very statement
