So I cover 11 Lower House Seats and I have
around… approximately around 470 thousand constituents. So that is almost the same size as the population
of Tasmania to give you some context whereas a Lower House seat has around 40 thousand
or thereabouts electors and so that’s it is very different. I am one of 5 representatives
in the region, whereas a Lower House Seat would just have 1 representative. Well the constituents are everybody that lives
in the electorate. And the constituents that elect me are those people who are eligible
to vote so everybody has a responsibility to vote; compulsory voting is something that
is undertaken and that is from 18 years of age that compulsory vote, voting is required.
So once you turn 18 you are allowed to vote in local, state and federal elections.
