FACES. THE MASSIVE EXPANSION OF THE DEMIR THEM FRIENDLY. LOVE THEM OR HATE THEM SCOOTERS HAVE MADE A BIG IMPACT ON DENVER AND THE CITY IS TAKING MAJOR STEPS TO KEEP RIDERS AND SAFE PEOPLE AROUND THEM SAFER. AS WE ALL KNOW, NOW THESE SCOOTERS ARE A COMMON SITE AROUND TOWN. WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING INTO THE PROPOSED CHANGES. THE BIGGEST ONE, NO MORE RIDING ON SIDEWALKS. Reporter: THAT IS THE BIGGEST ONE, BUT ON A SMALLER SCALE, COMPANIES LIKE LYFT HAVE STARTED A PROPULSION ELEMENT AT SAFE ZONES. OF COURSE THE BIGGEST CHANGE UP FOR DISCUSSION IS MEANING SCOOTER RIDERS ARE GOING TO HAVE TO GET COMFORTABLE WRITING AND BIKE LANES OR THE STREETS. AT FIRST I WAS REALLY AGAINST THE SCOOTERS AND I DIDN’T USE THEM FOR A VERY LONG TIME. Reporter: IT ONLY LOOK TOOK ONE RIDE FOR SAMANTHA MARTINEZ. THE FIRST TIME I USE THEM I LOVED IT AND I THOUGHT IT WAS SUPER CONVENIENT AND GREAT AND I’M ACTUALLY LOOKING INTO BUYING MY OWN NOW. Reporter: OTHERS LIKE IT, TOO, OVER THE LAST YEAR THERE’VE BEEN CLOSE TO 6000 RIDE TODAY. IT MAKES MY LIFE EASIER AND IT’S FUN. Reporter: NOT SO FUN FOR THE CITY. TUESDAY’S PROPOSED E-SCOOTER UPDATES INCLUDED PROPOSALS TO ISSUES THEY NEVER SAW COMING. WE CAN’T READ THEM ON THE FREEWAYS. Reporter: THERE ARE THE DAILY ISSUES AS WELL LIKE THIS GROUP OF TEENAGERS FLYING BY FAMILY ON THE 16th STREET MALL. THEY JUST ZOOMED RIGHT BY. Reporter: THE PROPOSED CHANGES WOULD MAKE IT SO YOU CAN’T WRITE ON A SIDEWALK. THE CARS USUALLY PULL OUT INTO THE BIKE LANE AND WHEN YOU ARE RIDING FAST, IT’S HARD TO STOP IN TIME. Reporter: SAMANTHA HAS GOTTEN USED TO THE BIKE LANE. I THINK IF MORE PEOPLE TRIED THEM AND WE GOT USED TO HAVING THEM AROUND IT WOULD BE SAFER. Reporter: AFTER HEARING

Drivers treat scooter riders worse than they treat cyclists. It's going to be very dangerous in some streets. Bike Lanes need to be expanded by huge amounts

There’s no way they can share the road or curtain bike lines safely. I’ve seen multiple accidents happen in the streets. They need to go.

Anoyone stupid enough not to wear a helmet while riding an e-scooter has a brain not worth protecting. No wonder Colorado has become blue.
