Marsha thank you Portland City Commissioner Joanne Hardesty is taking a strong stance against anti-abortion legislation which recently passed in several states across the country by thus introducing her own resolution Fox 12 Sarah Hurwitz is live in studio with a look at what she introduced today Sarah yes certainly some strong words from the Commissioner today that resolution calls for Portland City Attorney's to legally challenge anti-abortion laws in Alabama and Ohio now today take a look Commissioner Joanne Hardesty held a press conference announcing that resolution which she says has unanimous support from City Council she spoke alongside other organizations including nee rau pro-choice Oregon the legislation recently passed in Alabama and in Ohio and that makes abortion laws more restrictive which pro-choice supporters argue saves lives but Hardesty argued that here in Oregon we should set the tone for the country this City resolution really responds to this anti-abortion legislation wave that is taking over our country it is our responsibility to make sure that we are protecting folks across the country now we have been following that City Council meeting that resolution is expected to pass unanimously this afternoon in studio Sarah Hurwitz Fox 12 Oregon
