Since its inception the
masses have criticised the Maori Statutory Board. That begs the question,
is it even necessary? A call to quickly open
doors for Maori. This is the first of four meetings
between the Maori Statutory Board and the Super City Council. It’s about communicating
with one another for the betterment
of everyone involved. In the past few months, there has been a lot of controversy
around this Maori board. First, there was protest
over their funding. Then the Maori board put out a
tender to redevelop Queen Street. Then there was anger over
their attendance in meetings. But Taipari is urging patience,
claiming that results will follow. Ratepayers are hoping that
it doesn’t take too long. Heta Gardiner, Te Karere.
