In 2017 a record 1656 cases were brought
before the Court of Justice and the General Court. The Court of Justice
received no fewer than 739 cases of which 533 were
references from national courts. With the court taking an average of 15.7 months to deliver judgment. The General Court dealt with 895 cases increasing its productivity by more than 18% percent. Whilst the average
length of a case before the General Court fell to 16.3 months 40 percent quicker than in 2013
